Ethics Statement

Interlace takes seriously the ethical responsibilities involved in publishing. The following statements are guided by COPE.

As stated in the Guidelines for Authors, any authors listed on a manuscript should have agreed to be listed as authors on the manuscript, and should have contributed materially to the content of the manuscript in order to merit named authorship. Authors are permitted to state in a manuscript relative co-author contributions to the work or describe which authors contributed in what capacity. As stated in the Submission Instructions, submission of a manuscript means that the submitter certifies that the manuscript is approved by all named authors.

Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest, financial or personal, that relate to their work (for example receiving income from sales of patterns or kits purveyed by a third party). Similarly, any sponsorship of a project should be declared. Reviewers and editors may not use ideas or material from unpublished manuscripts without permission from the authors, and must keep confidential such material. Reviewers are expected to decline to review manuscripts for which they have conflicts of interest with the authors or sponsors.

Plagiarism is expressly forbidden in manuscripts. Using introductory, explanatory, or background text that is taken primarily from previously published work of the author(s) is permitted as long as the author(s) acknowledge in the manuscript the original source of the text. However, all main ideas in the manuscript must be original to that manuscript---unless the manuscript is a companion piece to another published work that is specified in the manuscript.

Requests for post-publication corrections to, revisions of, or retractions of papers should be made to the Editors-in-Chief. Any such corrections, revisions, or retractions that are implemented will be noted with the corrected/revised paper or, in the case of a retraction, in the place where the paper's content was linked.

Any allegation of misconduct or complaint about the journal should be brought to the Editors-in-Chief, unless the misconduct or subject of the complaint is alleged to be on the part of one of the Editors-in-Chief, in which case the allegation or complaint should be brought to a member of the Editorial Board. The Editor to whom an allegation or complaint is brought will investigate (or collaborate with other Editors in investigating) that allegation; they will take appropriate action and report on such to the person alleging misconduct. Likewise, any disputes about authorship or co-authorship should be brought to the Editors-in-Chief, who will investigate and respond. In such cases the decisions of the Editors-in-Chief or Editorial Board are final.
